Biography

11 Dec. 1797–24 May 1851. Farmer. Born in Colrain, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts. Son of John Coltrin and Sarah Graham. Moved to Strongsville, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, 1820. Married first Anna Norwood, 16 Nov. 1828, in Painesville, Geauga Co., Ohio. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Wheeler Baldwin, in Strongsville. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., by 1836. Ordained an elder, 8 Oct. 1839. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, by Oct. 1839. Married second Fanny, by 1840. Wife died, 15 Oct. 1840, in Nauvoo. Served as counselor to Bishop Isaac Higbee, beginning Mar. 1841. Married third Harriet Hackman, 18 Apr. 1841, in Nauvoo. Ordained a high priest, by 1842. Member of Nauvoo Legion. Moved to Winter Quarters, unorganized U.S. territory (later in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska), by Dec. 1846. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, by 1850. Died in Salt Lake City.
