McBride, Thomas

Biography

12 Mar. 1776–30 Oct. 1838. Farmer. Born in Virginia. Son of James McBride and Mary White. Married Catharine John, 28 Sept. 1797, in Berkeley Co., Virginia (later in Jefferson Co., West Virginia). Moved to Lancaster, Fairfield Co., Ohio, 1810. Moved to Amanda, Fairfield Co., by 1820. Settled on branch of Mohican River, Wayne Co., Ohio, 1820. Served as justice of the peace in Wayne Co. Resided in Jackson, Wayne Co., 1830. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Harvey Green, ca. 1831, in Wayne Co. Moved to Richland Co., Ohio, fall 1833; to Bowling Green, Pike Co., Missouri, June 1834; to Ray Co., Missouri, spring 1836; and near Hawn’s Mill settlement on Shoal Creek (later in Caldwell Co.), Missouri, Sept. 1836. Served as justice of the peace in Grand River Township (later subdivided into several townships), Caldwell Co. Killed during attack at Hawn’s Mill.
