Biography

13 Apr. 1792–22 Dec. 1880. Farmer, clerk, sheriff, politician, judge. Born in Clark Co., Kentucky. Moved to Xenia, Greene Co., Ohio, 1811. Married Elizabeth Constant, 5 Dec. 1813, in Greene Co. Moved to Brownsville, Union Co., Indiana, 1820. Moved to Fancy Creek Township, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 1825. Elected as representative in Illinois legislature, 1828, 1836, 1838. Served in Black Hawk War, 1831–1832. Elected sheriff of Sangamon Co., 1840. Appointed associate judge, 1849. Moved to Springfield, Sangamon Co., by 1860. Served as land office registrar, Sept. 1861–1872. Moved to Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois, 1867, where he died.
