Summary
An instrument with round handles at the end of a stock and a wedge-shaped iron with two turned-up tangs driven into holes in the stock. Originally a specialized tool for a wheelwright, it became a generalized tool for other craftsmen. Metal spokeshaves were popular in the United States in the mid-1800s.
