<20> Thusday 20, visited at ’s from there we were invited to visit at bro Vance’s, which we did, & there gave to the brethr[e]n & fri[e]nds of th[e] neighborhood a brief history of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.
<23> Sunday 23. Went to & prea[c]hed to a very crowded congregation. & so eager were they to hear that a part of them stood out in the rain during the sermon. I[n] general, they express[e]d good satisfaction as to what they had heard.
<30. Sunday 30th. I attended meeting at ’s. There was a crowd[e]d audience & I bore tistinoy [testimony] concerni[n]g the truth of the work, and also of the truth of the Book of Mormon, &c. This day Sister Morris Phelps [Laura Clark Phelps], who had travelled 150 miles, <in co with her bro, John W. Clark,> to see her husband, arriv[e]d at Columbia Jail in Columbia.—> [p. 60]
